On 3rd September 2026, Middlesex Squash Association & Girls in Motion hosted a Women’s Squash Festival. Running alongside the prestigious PSA London Squash Classic at Alexandra Palace, this landmark grassroots initiative demonstrated how collaboration across the sport can create transformative opportunities for women in squash.
The day consisted of a 2hr coaching session with two professional female coaches, followed by an afternoon team event, topping off the day with tickets to the evening session at the London Squash Classic.
Connecting the Squash Community
The event brought together regional & county associations, local clubs, tournament directors, and the Professional Squash Association (PSA). By aligning these normally distinct bodies, the initiative bridged the gap between community recreation and elite sport, creating a welcoming, unified platform for female players across London and the surrounding counties.
Coaching Designed for Women, by Women
Central to the day was a custom coaching curriculum led entirely by women, which successfully drove participant engagement. Putting qualified female coaches in the spotlight provided visible representation and leadership, highlighting coaching and sports management as rewarding career paths for women.
Building Community & Social Pathways
Beyond skill development, the event addressed a core challenge in women’s sport: finding local playing partners of a similar level. The day broadened networks, allowing players to connect across neighbouring clubs, opening up new opportunities for friendly matches, county team play, and social leagues.
Launch of London Squash
The event showcased what can be achieved when organisations come together and powerfully demonstrated how strategic partnerships can successfully support and elevate community initiatives. It embodied London Squash’s objectives to transform and boost opportunities for physical activity through innovative squash projects.
